All this started over the Austraian family that had to take their 5er to Forest River for repairs? Need to read the other stories, their 5er was stolen from the Forest River repair shop. Now they are in Motel fighting with FR and insurance co.The title's not doing them any good at the moment.

RE: Electrical cord hook-up to Truck

The spring on mine is broken, so I use a plastic tie to hold it all together. Just make sure you carry a pair of dikes, or a good knife to cut it loose, shen you unhook. its worked two years for me, so far. One of these days, I'll get a new socket. Hope this helps. John

RE: Can you shred these for me please?

We have friends with a wildcat, and when we go out in early spring, and it gets down below 32, the "wc" freeze's up right where the water hose connects. I always enjoy watching Bob thaw his water lines with the hair dryer. In the Forest River line, i think the "wc" is at the bottom. Hope this helps. John

RE: Storing 50A detachable cord

Hi Dave, I agree with CardnialCamper, I use one of those milk cartons from WalMart, cut a big hole in side and strung cord through it, so carton is always with cord. I just roll it up in carton and set on rud inside of entrance of 5er. Last thing in and first thing out. John

RE: new to this

Hi Trevor, and welcome to the forum. Make sure you flush all the water lines, running them till all the pink stuff is out. Don't open water heater bypass till system is flushed. Don't want the pink stuff in water heater. If you have a bypass, its usually behind a door inside of the kitchen. Down at floor level. If its warm enough where you live, maybe it wasn't winterized. In that case, you want to drain the water heater. Water in there will be pretty stale, after setting for a year. Check battiers to make sure they are charging, and holding a charge. You need the battery to raise landing gear and operate slides even if plugged into shore power. Turn fridge on a coule days before leaving to be sure its cold. Usally need 24 to 48 hrs to get cold. Good luck, and enjoy. John

RE: Bike ladder rack...yes or no?

We have on that we got at CW. So far, it has done its job. I agree with kakampers, we use ratchet straps verus the stuff that come's with the rack. Also, where front wheel fork touches the ladder, I put a large auto sponge held in place with plastic ties to keep bike from rubbing against the ladder. Get'r as tight as possible. Hope this helps. RE: El Paso, TX ? flying saying bye to Army son

Have your son make reservations for you on post at the guest quarters that they have there. Don't wait too long or they will be all booked up. Safer and a lot closer to your son. Hope this helps. John

RE: Cardinal Fifth Wheel Issues

Hi flojoe, and welcome to the forum. I've only had 2 problems that required trips to dealer, under warranty. One for black tank valve and one for propane gas line. Dealer fixed black tank valve on the spot, and took about 3 weeks to order and install new gas lines. Both were done on the off season, and I was in no hurry. All other repairs I did, with help from this forum and from the cardinal forum. hereAlso the cardinal club has rally's and we all went to the cardinal factory a couple months ago. We also had input for future, cardinal models which forest river appreciated. Linda and I love our cardinal. Hope you don't have any big problems with yours. John
